There was a photograph
I'd like to describe
It was in black and white
An interior view
There was a photograph
No caption, no time, no date
Just a Scandinavian desk
And a vacated chair
Your eyes are dedicated to the desktop
By the slant of light
There's three small stacks of essays
Prescription pills, headphones, a sharpie, and a pen
Prescription pills, headphones, a sharpie, and a pen
I wonder about the teacher
Did he wander off and die?
I'm more worried about the students,
Did they get their essays back?
They really need this grade
And the comments in the margins,
Comments in the margins, comments in the margins
They can't live without the comments in the margins
There was a photograph
That's all that's left

Literary Vagabond Redondo Beach, California
This Peninsula High School English teacher started writing, singing songs 6 years ago after a challenge from students. He

Topiary Anticipation is, by his accounts, his 22 LP. Most of his LPs have never been officially released.
